Why we’re looking forward to Gamescom 2018…

Gamescom is back and bigger than ever this year. In two weeks time, game developers from far and wide will descend upon Cologne to unveil their shiny new titles. We’ll be trudging the exhibition halls having conversations with those in charge of acquiring new users to their mobile games. We’ll be shedding light on how we can transform their fragmented campaign and attribution data into unified ROI insight.

August 22nd brings a day of talks and discussions from the brightest minds in the gaming industry. Here’s what I’m looking forward to the most:

1. When a game becomes a brand universe

I think you’ll agree, Subway Surfers is more than just a game. Its success continues with a whopping 2 billion downloads to date. Mathias Greal Novig, CEO of SYBO will be dishing out his key to an all-around winning marketing strategy, and how to turn a game into a universe.

2. Let’s be frank: How much does an influencer cost?

Influencer marketing is not new. It’s been around for many years. This year it’s become a hot topic for marketers – most likely because we’re realising how powerful it really is, particularly as an alternative to traditional advertising. But how much does an influencer really cost? What levels of reach are significant? An influencer and two managers will let the numbers talk.

And after dark…

3. Pixonic and Pocket Gamer party

By day, we walk the halls of the Koelnmesse on the lookout for the latest games and gathering valuable insight to take home with us. By night, we grease the wheels over (hopefully) cold beers, meet people, share ideas and have a jolly old time. Thanks to Pixonic and Pocket Gamer for lining up the first night of festivities at Tanzbar. It’s set to be epic!

With Gamescom celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, it’s sure to be a big one. Quite frankly, we can’t wait. Are you a gaming developer heading to Gamescom, perhaps struggling to juggle fragmented campaign and attribution data? We should chat. There’s a chance Appsumer could be the engine to accelerate your entire user acquisition process.
